The success of LLE lies in part with its seasoned management. Begun by the late Founder and Chairman, Dr. H. Darrel Darby and led by President, CEO Michael W. Darby, LLE is a team of experienced hotel professionals dedicated to providing excellent management for the properties the company operates.
1977: Company Beginnings
The company began with one property which opened in July 1977 in Beckley, West Virginia. This was an independent 100 room property called Laurel Lodge. In 1983 the decision was made to convert to a Comfort Inn, the first one in West Virginia. In 1984 a 30 room addition was built with new lobby, meeting room, fitness facility and guest laundry.
1990s: Steady Growth
In 1992 LLE developed a 64 room Sleep Inn located in Beaver, West Virginia. This was the first Sleep Inn in West Virginia. In 1994, due to the success of the project, the decision was made to add a 40 room addition. In 1996 property was purchased in Princeton, West Virginia and an 81 room Sleep Inn was developed. In 1997, a 120 room Days Inn was purchased in Beckley, West Virginia. Over the next six months, this property was completely renovated to meet the standards of LLE and Days Inn.
2000: The Growth Continues
In 2001, a 62 room Days Inn was purchased in Clarksburg, West Virginia. This property had a restaurant/lounge that had been closed for about two years. It was determined that the best use of that space would be as a conference center so work was begun and the conference center and rooms renovation was completed in 2002. In 2003, an addition was built with 36 suites to complete the project. In 2005, a 28 suite and meeting room addition was built for the Sleep Inn, Princeton.
In all these projects, LLE provided evaluation, recommendations, project development and oversight, and operations management from start to finish. The LLE team is ready to assist in making your project a success.
